Orlando, FL (August 18, 2021) – Creative City Project announces the exciting return of Central Florida’s signature arts event “IMMERSE 2021”, returning for its 9th year to the heart of Downtown Orlando and bigger than ever October 15-17, 2021. IMMERSE 2021 will be held over three days from 5 pm-11 pm on Friday and Saturday and during daytime hours on Sunday. Presented by Orlando Health/Orlando Regional Medical Center, this year’s event showcases hundreds of artists and live performances in Downtown Orlando's streets and public spaces. IMMERSE 2021 attendees will journey through 10 city blocks of unexpected creative encounters, epic performances, and interactive art.
Featured activations include JOYBOX from Orlando Health, which kicks off on September 17. JOYBOX is a large-scale, interactive art exhibition designed around everything happy. It includes art installations inspired by the catchy, familiar happiness phrases, like the “Don’t Worry. Be Happy” room. This exhibit is illuminated with black lights and full of piles of shredded neon paper. Guests will write one personal worry on a piece of paper, run it through a paper shredder installed in the walls and celebrate the release of that worry. “Step into the light” features a giant 8’ circular light sculpture in a large room. Visitors can also message life’s blessings into the Blessing Counter in the “Count Your Blessings” room, and large LED scrollers will display their blessings on the walls. Tickets are sold as part of the IMMERSE ticket bundles and are available at www.creativecityproject.com.
Additional IMMERSE 2021 activations include X-Factory, presented by Stax. These immersive photo environments are built inside a shipping container structure and encourage everyone to embrace their X-Factor. Plus, the new EA SPORTS Zone featuring Orlando City Soccer and Orlando Magic. It's a high-energy activation that celebrates EA SPORTS' move to Downtown Orlando. Here, Orlando City will bring the fancy footwork of a soccer ball juggling team, and Orlando Magic’s dynamic entertainment, Magic Beatz and The 407, will wow audiences throughout the night. The EA SPORTS Zone will also feature a mural painted by kicking and throwing paint-covered balls at the walls.
Feature IMMERSE 2021 performances include: Dare to Dream, a high-energy acrobatic performance featuring trampoline and silks performers and live musicians on a large scaffolding structure right in the middle of Orange Avenue. In partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Center, Celebration of Diversity features musician and activist Daryl Davis and dozens of local musicians. Orlando Ballet, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Central Florida Community Arts, and many more will perform.
IMMERSE’s all-new third day, “COLOR DAY,” invites attendees to become the canvas and get colorful. The 2021 experience features colored powder fights, bright eruptions of foam, live performances, and tons of bubbles! Color Day can be purchased as part of an IMMERSE ticket bundle.
“We are delighted to bring back our signature arts event and make the streets of Downtown Orlando come alive with hundreds of phenomenal artists, epic live performances, immersive art, and unexpected creative encounters that is IMMERSE,” says Creative City Project Executive Director Cole NeSmith. “We have an amazing group of artistic collaborations this year to create more innovative experiences and unique performances that audiences cannot have anywhere else in the world. Additionally, we are very excited to extend IMMERSE 2021 and present our brand-new COLOR DAY.”
Cole continues, “Our footprint holding IMMERSE entirely outdoors ensures the comfort of our attendees, which we know is top of mind for our guests. We are doing our best to safeguard our guests and also instill pure joy and awe, which is something we all deserve and need.”
“Thanks to residents who have done their part to get vaccinated to protect our community from COVID-19, the City of Orlando is proud to bring back community events safely,” says Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “One of the highest priorities of our shared vision for Downtown Orlando is the desire to have burgeoning cultural and arts amenities within our urban core. With its multitude of activations for guests of all ages, IMMERSE brings awareness of the arts to downtown and its businesses, helping to grow a healthier economy."
IMMERSE 2021 is partnered with Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs, the City of Orlando, and the Downtown Development Board.

About The Creative City Project
Creative City Project began in 2012 as a group of artists performing on street corners and plazas around Downtown Orlando. The event was renamed IMMERSE at the beginning of 2017. Its mission is three-fold: To cultivate a thriving arts community in Central Florida, to nurture a deeper sense of ownership of and care for Orlando amongst its residents, and to shape the global perception of The City Beautiful as one known for innovation and creativity. In addition, to IMMERSE, Creative City Project is committed to helping guests live a life of creativity and adventure by connecting them with meaningful arts experiences throughout the year. Each Monday, Creative City Project releases “This Week In Art” video series highlighting interesting arts events happening across Central Florida that week. Additionally, Creative City Project hosts a weekly podcast called “Artrepreneur” focused on helping artists make creativity their career.
